ROTI

In my attempts of making roti during lockdown, I experimented with various ways of creating a flatbread and ended up with a variety of shapes, densities and thicknesses.

These platters are the first in a series of objects that begins to question the notion of perfection. Each platter is handmade and involves several steps and skills, including hand cutting, polishing and shaping.

The Roti Platter collection is handcrafted by artisans in India, utilizing techniques that have been handed down for generations. Three unique and indigenous types of stone/marble are used, showcasing their unique patterns, textures, and characteristic colors unique to their regions.

These pieces have been shaped so thin, just like a roti, which is a different skill to achieve, highlighting the artisanal quality of this serve ware.
